Volunteers are needed for all committees:

Staff Appreciation Committee is responsible for planning and providing items/events for staff appreciation, which may include, but are not limited to, Teacher Appreciation Week, First Friday breakfasts, Staff/Principal/Executive Assistants Day, and holiday gifts. This committee is also in need of a chair! This is a very important job that makes a huge impact. Reach out to a friend and volunteer together!

Social Committee is responsible for planning and providing chaperones and activities for McKinley CLA Teen Town and other events held throughout the school year.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is responsible for planning an annual Diversity Event to celebrate the diversity of our student body and promote equity and inclusion of all students and families of diverse backgrounds.

Fundraising Committee organizes and coordinates our fund drive to support McKinley CLA PTO functions.

Facilities/Beautification Committee is responsible for assisting the staff in enhancing the building and grounds of McKinley CLA.

We highly recommend all parents become approved volunteers (a district requirement for all parents who volunteer on campus or directly with students). Volunteering at McKinley is also a wonderful way to get to know your child’s friends, teachers, administration, and other parents. Becoming an approved volunteer will allow you to help in the way that works best for your schedule. Regardless of skill level or availability, if you would like to be involved, we have a place for you! Even if you aren't an approved volunteer, there are many ways to volunteer outside of school (BoxTops, donating breakfast items for monthly staff breakfasts, etc.).
For the safety of our children, all volunteers must be approved before helping at McKinley. The approval process includes standard paperwork and a background check, which is paid for by SLPS. Volunteers must renew their application every two years.
